our mission

Kit Modus transports audiences into a world of innovative movement by developing and presenting an expansive repertoire of contemporary dance works by outstanding choreographers.

Kit Modus was founded in 2017 by Jillian Mitchell  

Kit's work has been selected for presentation at the Women in Dance Leadership Conference, ImmerseATL's alum showcase, and Dumbo Dance Festival. Commissions include the UNCSA's Pluck Project, the University of Georgia Department of Dance, Georgia College, Georgia State's Music department, and CreativeMornings Atlanta. 

Kit invites internationally notable creators to work with the company through their residency program. Guest artists include Noelle Kayser of Northwest Dance Project and Paramar Dance, Springboard Danse Montreal's EMERGE choreographic award winner Mark Caserta, former Hubbard Street dancer Autumn Eckman, Rubén Julliard of Opéra national du Rhin, Christian Denice, former dancer with Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal, and the multi-award winning Yoshito Sakuraba.

In addition to their consistent open classes, the company facilitates community workshops, including Benjamin Wardell of The Cambrians and Kira Blazek for Countertechnique

Jillian Mitchell is a classical ballet and contemporary dancer, choreographer, and community leader. She trained at the Harid Conservatory and Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet School before performing with New Jersey Ballet, Rebecca Davis Dance (now MindLeaps), Roxey Ballet, Georgia Ballet, gloATL, Proia Dance Project, The Atlanta Opera, and guested at several galas including stars of ballet and broadway, and stars of Russian ballet. She has guest taught for the University of Georgia Department of Dance, Dance Gallery Festival, Alabama Dance Festival, Staibdance, ImmerseATL, and Fly on a Wall. In addition to presenting numerous works with Kit Modus, her choreography was presented at Georgia State University, The Women in Dance Leadership Conference, the University of Georgia, georgia college, and the Dumbo Dance Festival. She has served on the board of directors at DanceATL and AAlchemy, and artucker.
